Jay’s practice focuses on commercial and residential real estate transactions, landlord/tenant and fair housing matters, and collection cases.  Jay has extensive experience in these areas, including an active courtroom practice.  As a regular lecturer in these areas of the law, Jay has a broad knowledge in these areas and can offer relevant assistance to our clients in these areas.

Jay represents a significant number of property owners and management companies, and assists them with leasing issues, evictions, collections, fair housing matters, and other advice as needed.  His long history of representing these clients has allowed him to develop a very positive reputation in these areas of the law.

In the real estate transactional practice, Jay can assist buyers and sellers of commercial or residential properties, including tax-deferred exchanges.  In addition to his law license, Jay is also a licensed real estate broker in the State of Wisconsin.  His continuing education requirements for his real estate and law licenses allow him to stay current with the relevant laws associated with his real estate law practice.

Jay received his undergraduate degree with Honors from the University of Wisconsin–Madison, and is a 1980 graduate of the University of Wisconsin Law School. He has done extensive lecturing throughout the state on landlord/tenant, fair housing, collection, and related matters. Jay is a member of the Dane County Bar Association and the State Bar of Wisconsin.  In addition, Jay has received the top (AV) rating from Martindale-Hubbell, which is a peer-review ranking based on legal ability and ethical standards.

When not busy at the office, Jay enjoys Badger and Packer sports.  In addition, he is the proud father of three children, and enjoys time with them and with his grandchildren.
